DIY Fauxdenza

October 16, 2012

Fauxdenza, anyone?

Remember the gorgeous credenza in my last Seeing Sounds post? So perfect, so beautiful and so expensive! Since I can’t afford it, I started looking for similar less expensive options. That’s when I came across Fauxdenzas aka floating cabinets. They are 10x less and they look just as great.

Who knew combining Ikea kitchen cabinets and a slab of wood, could result is something so good looking? I put together a visual list of materials needed to complete the fauxdenza.

Alina Cho’s Apartment

Alina Cho’s Apartment

Happy Monday!

I’m doing things a little different today. I decided to share an interior instead of my normal color obsession post.

Today, I am sharing the apartment of Alina Cho shot by Vogue.

I am a huge fan of leopard print and dark walls. This combination screams drama (the good kind of course…). When I saw this entry, I knew I would love this apartment!

How gorgeous are the zebra print chairs? I am really feeling the pink bench and the lucite coffee table as well.

A perfectly accessorized coffee table. Is that a black and white malachite print lamp shade?

Seeing Sounds: Losing You

Seeing Sounds: Losing You

Sheeeeee’s baaaccckkk! Yes, Solange is back with a new single and I love it! As soon as I heard the song, I knew I had to create a seeing sounds post. The sound is so refreshing, yet heavily influenced. Listen below and you will definitely understand.

Tell me the truth boy, am I losing you for good
We use to kiss all night but now it’s just no use
I don’t know why I fight it, clearly we are through
Tell me the truth boy, am I losing you for good

The song is upbeat, but the lyrics are a little sad. I tried to infuse the latter into the space as much as possible. Check out the music inspired mood board after the jump!

Affordable Abstract Art Prints

Affordable Abstract Art Prints

Thank God for Society 6, Art.com and 20×200! Ballin’ on a budget is so easy now. haha. They all offer affordable art prints. Decorating with art has never been easier! I love spaces where art is the focal point. I’m not a huge fan of colorful furniture and rugs. I like to bring color through art and accessories. It makes the space versatile because art and accessories are easy to remove and replace.

My favorite art is abstract. The prints in the graphic are currently on my purchase wish list.

  1. Water Dream by Amy Sia $19-$65
  2. Black Lips Giclee Print by Lora Zombie $34-$179
  3. Ny.11.#42 by Jennifer Sanchez $60 for 14″ x 11″
  4. Freedom Feather by Nikkistrange $12.48-$50

Another site to search for affordable print is Etsy.

What’s your favorite type of art? Who is your favorite artist?
